Rent a bike

Sicula Bike rents bikes exclusively to guests of selected holiday lettings of Solemar Sicilia. This results in the following rental process:

• If you do NOT yet have a customer account with Sicula Bike, please follow these steps first.
• If you have not already done so, book one of the holiday lettings.
• You can then hire the bikes online from the Sicula Bike store.
• The bicycles will be brought to your holiday letting on the desired date. Alternatively, you get the keys to a nearby garage.

Sicula Bike rents out bikes exclusively to guests of selected Solemar Sicilia holiday lettings. On this page you will find an overview of all Solemar Sicilia holiday lettings in Bagheria and Santa Flavia.

Holiday lettings for which bicycles are available for hire are marked with a blue symbol in the top left-hand corner of the photo.

You can currently find such holiday lettings in these districts:

• In the old town of Santa Flavia
• At the harbour of Porticello
• In the old town of Porticello
• At the Capo Zafferano
• In Mongerbino

A bike and a holiday flat right on the train network - that's the perfect combination for a car-free holiday in Sicily.

North-west Sicily is home to the most modern train network in Sicily. It stretches from Palermo airport to Cefalù.

Santa Flavia is right in the centre of it all - with a train station in the old town. And as this map on Google Maps shows, there are several holiday lettings less than 500 metres away from it.

The small penthouse Casa Enza in the photo above stands out. It not only offers a huge roof terrace, but also fibre optic internet. Casa Enza is therefore particularly suitable for use as a home office.

Sicula Bike exclusively rents the e-bike (pedelec) Brennero Urban Agevole recommended by us from the Sicilian manufacturer Cicli Lombardo.

• "Brennero" stands for its mountain suitability,
• "Urban" for its usability in the city and
• "Agevole" for its convenience.

The Brennero also makes sense if you are not planning to drive into the surrounding mountains at all, because

• where the mountains are close to the sea, even normal roads are steep,
• thanks to the powerful motor, you almost don't have to pedal yourself in the Sicilian summer and always stay "cool" thanks to the wind,
• the powerful motor helps you to easily pull out into the city traffic and
• the combination of safety and comfort of this bike is impressive overall.

Please note: Unlike the original, the rental bikes from Sicula Bike are equipped with puncture resistant Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB tyres. They are not only the best defense against everyday tire wreckers, but also suitable for fast e-bikes in accordance with ECE-R75.

The rental prices of our bikes are:

• Depending on the season between 70€ and 200€ per week (details in Sicula Bike - Store)
• Security deposit: 1200€ (will be blocked on the credit card shortly before the start of the rental period)

Note: The deposit is very high because bicycles cannot be insured against theft on reasonable terms in Italy. In the event of theft, the deposit will be retained in full. The amount of the deposit corresponds to approx. 1/3 of the purchase price.

Included in the price are:

• two saddles (a sporty one and a comfortable one),
• a rearview mirror,
• an extra rear light,
• a mobile phone holder,
• a battery charger,
• two bags,
• two chains with combination lock,
• a toolset,
• an air pump,
• a helmet and
• a high-visibility vest

The following insurance is included in the rental price:

• Liability to cover damage caused to third parties through the use of the rental bike.

Please note that otherwise NO insurance is included in the rental price. This applies in particular to:

• Damage to the rental bike
• Theft of the rental bike
• Treatment costs for injuries to the renter
